Super Bowl Chili Cook-off XXVIIIIVVXIIVVXXXIVVV

Mark Friday, January 30, 2009 on your calendar for the Annual Video Professor Seasons Club Super Bowl Chili Cook-off XXVIIIIVVXIIVVXXXIVVV!

(I have no idea what all those X's and V's etc mean but the Super Bowl uses them so why not us?)

When: Friday, January 31.
Time: 11am-1pm
Where: Winter Park
Theme: Wear gear from your favorite pro or college sports teams.

Once again we will have two divisions:
Red and Green. (I know there was some confusion about the purple chili last year but let's not go there.)

Super Bowl Chili Cook-Off XXVIIIIVVXIIVVXXXIVVV Rules and Regulations:
(We're not using BCS rules because we want the best teams to actually win)

►1 person minimum and 4 people maximum per team.

► Each team is responsible for the cost of their chili(s).

► Each team can choose to do one pot each of green and/or red chili. Approximately one gallon of chili required per submission.

► Submissions must be in the Winter Park conference room (warmed up and ready to go) by 9:15 am. Submissions after this time will not be judged but will be eaten!

► Each submission will be assigned a number. There will be NO decorating of chili pots. Please include a ladle with your entry.

► Judging will be done by local Firefighters. (The one's from Las Vegas charged too much)

►2-3 judges per chili.

►Judging will be done using a bracket system:

1. Judges will taste 1 tablespoon of each chili starting at 9:30am.
2. Judges will choose the top 8 of each type of chili (red or green) by 9:45am.
3. Judges will then choose the top 4 of each type of chili by 10:00am.
4. Judges will then choose the top 2 of each type of chili by 10:15am.
5. Final Super Bowl winner will be chosen by 10:30am.
6. Prizes will be awarded at 10:45am so that those coming in to lunch at 11:00 will know who the winners are.

►Judges starting with green will end with green, or starting with red will end with red. No switching from one kind of chili to the other.

►Judges will use a “like it or you don’t” method of judging. No forms to fill out or numbers to add up. Just pick which ones they like best and debate the winners amongst themselves.

►There will be 2 referees appointed to help the firefighters with getting the chili, water, etc. They will switch off half way so that nobody is in the WP conference room for an extended period of time.

►There will also be a “Communicator” (Brian Olson) responsible for keeping track of the brackets board and making the announcements of who moved on to the next round. (Olson is already on the payroll, Alan Roach wanted big bucks)

If you'd like to enter a team, contact Anne Deeb at #399.

This is also a potluck, so start planning on snacks, deserts etc that you might want to contribute. There will also be prizes awarded. (We have no idea what they will be but do hope you take satisfaction from a job well-done.)

If you'd like to volunteer for set-up and tear-down, please contact LaSchell at 388.
